Tax Rebate

PARTNER WITH LOCKHEED WINDOW CORP.
and TAKE CREDIT FOR BEING ENERGY $MART!

What is the tax credit rebate program?

The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, effective January 1, 2009, offers a one-time energy tax credit up to $1500 for the period 2009-2010 to homeowners who have energy-efficient products installed in their primary residence.  The credit also applies to multifamily housing units that are owned by residents (ie cooperative and condominium owners in management associations).  The maximum credit you can claim is 30%, with a maximum of $1500, of the cost of all qualified products (please refer to www.irs.gov for the list of eligible products) installed during 2009 -2010 in your primary residence.  This does not include the installation, on-site preparation, assembly or tax for the products.

What products qualify for the tax credit rebate program?

You can find the list of all eligible products on the ENERGY STAR® website or the IRS website (links provided below).  All windows and doors installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010, that have been certified by ENERGY STAR and have performance ratings equal to or below a U-factor of 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 qualify for the tax credit rebate.  This information can be found on the NFRC label placed on your windows by the manufacturer.  A list of the windows and doors manufactured by Lockheed Window Corp. and their respective ratings is inserted below.

The U-factor rating is a representation of the rate of heat loss.  A low U-factor shows how well the window/door helps prevent heat loss and lower energy costs.  The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) is a measurement of the amount of solar radiation (heat) that is absorbed and transmitted through a window/door.   A lower rating indicates better heat-blocking ability.

What is ENERGY STAR®?

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.

Lockheed Window Corp. is a proud partner of ENERGY STAR.  If looking for new household products, look for ones that have earned the ENERGY STAR label and rating. They meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPAand US Department of Energy.

What is NFRC?

The National Fenestration Rating Council is a nonprofit organization that administers the industry standard independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of windows and doors.  NFRC labels are only on products that have been tested based on industry standards and provided to enable the consumer to compare similar products and their performance.

How do I claim the tax credit rebate?

Homeowners should save all receipts/invoices and labels from the windows and doors that qualify for the tax credit rebate.  You will also need the Manufacturers Certification Statement stating that the product purchased qualifies for the tax credit rebate. The link to Lockheed Window Corp.’s Manufacturers’ Certificate is provided below. You must file a 1040 long form to be eligible.  To claim the credits, fill out IRS Form 5695, available at www.irs.gov by clicking on the Individuals tab and clicking Forms and Publications.  The link will be provided once you enter the Form number in the find field.  You need to enter the appropriate information from the Form 5695 to the Form 1040.  The receipts and labels do not need to be submitted with your tax filings but must be kept in your records for review if required by the IRS. Please contact your tax preparer for more information regarding all requirements for claiming the tax credit on your year end tax filing.
